The Charge d’affaires is the head of the U.S. Embassy until a new Ambassador resumes the post in Berne. \nEva Weigold Schultz began her assignment in Berne as Deputy Chief of Mission in August 2019. Previously\, she served in the Office of the Secretary of State as Deputy Executive Secretary where she managed the flow of information to the Secretary for policy decisions\, and led planning for the Secretary’s international travel. \nMs. Weigold Schultz is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. Prior assignments in Washington include Executive Assistant to the Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs\, Deputy Director for the Office of the Arabian Peninsula in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs\, Executive Director of the U.S.-Afghan Women’s Council (while on detail to Georgetown University)\, and Director for Andean Affairs at the National Security Council. DESCRIPTION:Feb. 25\, 2021\, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM \n \nPlease take note of an exciting event that our friends at the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce are hosting: \nGuest of honor and keynote speaker \nAmbassador Jacques Pitteloud\nSwiss Ambassador\, Embassy of Switzerland\, Washington\, DC \nPresident Biden: What is new for Switzerland? \nJacques Pitteloud was appointed Ambassador of Switzerland to the United States of America in 2019. He joined the Swiss Foreign Service in 1987. From 1988 to 1989\, he served as a trade attaché at the Swiss Embassy in Riyadh\, Saudi Arabia. From 1990-1995\, he served in the Swiss Strategic Intelligence Service and then acted as a personal advisor to two successive Defence Ministers until 1999 and then served as the Head of a Study Group tasked to develop the future structures of the Swiss Armed Forces. Dr Pitteloud was the first Intelligence Coordinator for the Swiss Government from 2000 to 2005 and then became the Director\, Arms Control\, Disarmament\, Security Policy and Intelligence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bern. From 2010 to 2015\, Jacques Pitteloud was Swiss Ambassador to Kenya\, Uganda\, Rwanda\, Burundi\, Somalia and the Seychelles.
