“This extraordinary availability of nearby exceptional culture and
the incredible natural scenic beauty are what keep me here”
A work assignment brought me initially to Zürich in Summer, 1995. I spent each weekend of this, my first visit to Europe, traveling ‘abroad’ to nearby major European cultural centers outside Switzerland. A decade later, in 2005, I was fortunate to have been recruited for a permanent, full-time position (again in Zürich); a role maintained through 2011. After retiring at the end of 2018, I was additionally fortunate to be able to relocate again back to Switzerland, this time permanently.
Living full time in Switzerland during those pre-retirement years allowed me to remember just how geographically close all of those major European cultural centers indeed are, and how remarkably easy and convenient travel is to most all of these exciting and diverse European destinations! Also, during this period, a subscription to the exceptional Swiss Museums Pass afforded me a terrific introduction to the impressive depth and breadth of local historical and cultural attractions right here at ‘home.’ This extraordinary availability of nearby exceptional culture and the incredible natural scenic beauty are what keep me here.
