Thanks to everyone who could join us at the AICZ 4th of July celebration. Our participants included a nice mix of members (new/long standing), guests and first timers (even young families). Check-out pictures from the event taken by FotoMendez.
The group of around 118 remained true to the red, white and blue and dodged the late afternoon rains while enjoying some lively Americana-Swiss acoustic music from the Enderlin Chicks and Barbara Wilde. We were first welcomed with a glass of Prosecco and tasty nibbles offered by the restaurant. The delicious buffet, prepared by Raphael Frei and his talented and friendly staff at the historic Restaurant Alter Tobelhof (Zürich-Gockhausen) was also much appreciated. Whether it was the classic burgers, pulled pork, baked potatoes, fresh coleslaw and pasta salad side dishes: all received ‘thumbs-ups’ approvals from the guests. Many also went home with some nice prizes won in our Tombola or with winning bids in the silent auction. The pool of prizes, valued at just over CHF 5,000, were donated by the generous sponsors and friends of AICZ. The club was even able to generate a small surplus to invest in future member events. The historic moment came when Eleanor Paunovic, American Women’s Club (AWCZ) of Zürich President and professional opera singer gave a truly memorable rendering of the Star-Spangled Banner.
